Stagehands' Union Plans to Picket the Tony Awards

Four hundred members of the stagehands' union plan to picket the Tony Awards Sunday night after the producers of the show chose non-union workers to set it up. There could be even be a giant inflatable rat by the red carpet. In this week's Arts File, Jeff Spurgeon speaks with New York Times theater reporter Patrick Healy about what to look out for inside--and outside--the Beacon theater.

Regarding the Sept. Song - I disagree. It may not be classical but Jimmy Durant'e bittersweet version is the best!

The producer of the Tony Awards Show should know better than to pull an end run on Local One. I welcome the Giant Rat and am looking forward to seeing how many AEA actors will brave the red carpet, and then walk to the Beacon one block away.
