Violinist Thomas Zehetmair

Austrian violinist, chamber musician and conductor Thomas Zehetmair appears regularly as a soloist with leading orchestras on all continents and he is particularly committed to performing contemporary music.

Zehetmair made his New York recital debut at The Frick Collection in 1989, and returned this past May to perform violin sonatas by Bach and Karl Amadeus Hartmann, as well as Bach’s Partita No. 2 in D minor.


He has recorded a substantial amount of the violin repertoire, including composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Szymanowski, Zimmermann, Paganini, Holliger, Elgar and Ysaÿe. Many of the CDs have won awards. He holds an honorary doctorate from the Liszt School of Music in Weimar.
