The Knights rehearse in The Greene Space The Knights rehearse in The Greene Space (Kim Nowacki/WQXR)

As WQXR's ensemble-in-residence, The Knights spent several days rehearsing in The Greene Space, the multimedia performance space and broadcast studio on the ground floor of WQXR's studios on Varick Street. In these two videos, the musicians run through Franz Schubert's beloved Octet and Osvaldo Golijov's Lullaby and Doina, a piece built on a Yiddish lullaby and wild gypsy themes.

When I turned my radio on at quarter to 1pm, their live performance was being aired. Jeff was talking about their challenge to take and introduce world music. The last piece, I believe, they performed ( I missed the title and more info about the piece) was pretty impressive – animated and eloquent for what they are trying to achieve. Cheers! and WQXR, where can I find what works they performed today during the concert?
