Welcome back! Today’s program kicks off another rich season of The McGraw-Hill Companies Young Artists Showcase. We’ve got a recital of student performances from the Juilliard School: Pianists Oskar Jezior and Andrew Tyson, this year’s winners of the 2011 Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, recorded live at Juilliard.
As winners of the Bachauer competition, Jezior and Tyson, both under age 25, receive free tuition scholarships to the Juilliard School. Tyson, a native of Durham, North Carolina, is currently earning his Master of Music degree at Juilliard; he is also a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music. Jezior is also earning a Master of Music degree from Juilliard after being accepted at age 15 to the Hochschule für Künste in Germany, not far from his native home of Warsaw, Poland. Still at the beginning of their pianistic careers, both young men have performed extensively on stages around the world.
