The KUSS QUARTET has appeared in major halls in New York, Amsterdam, Berlin, and London, and in prestigious international festivals.  The Berlin-based ensemble has won many competitions and was chosen in 2003 by the European Concert Hall Organization for the “Rising Stars” series.

In addition to traditional concerts with a repertoire that ranges from the Renaissance through the present day, the group presents programs that combine sound and word in the form of concert introductions and lecture recitals, performing with guests as varied as singers, actors, comedians, and hip-hop artists in the quartet’s own concert series in Hamburg and in Berlin nightclubs.  Through cooperation with the Berlin radio corporation, RBB, these endeavors have attracted new and young audiences to concerts.

The Kuss Quartet has made a compact disc of Haydn and one called Bridges, spanning works from Dowland to Kurtag and Stravinsky on the SonyBMG label.  This fall the quartet will release a disc with the actor Udo Samel, combining music by Berg, Webern, and Beethoven with lyrics by Bertolt Brecht.
