WQXR’s Naomi Lewin hosts an evening of conversation and performance with stars of the Metropolitan Opera -- including sopranos Anna Netrebko and Deborah Voigt -- on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 pm in the Jerome L. Greene Performance Space. The event is Webcast live on WQXR.org.

General Manager Peter Gelb will preview the 2011-2012 season. Additionally, the guests present video highlights from the Sept. 26 season-opening performance of Donizetti’s Anna Bolena featuring Netrebko, as well as footage from Wagner’s Die Walküre featuring Voigt.

The second half of the evening features live performances from three rising stars of the opera stage. Bass-baritone Luca Pisaroni, who sings Leporello in a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, presents his character’s famous “Catalogue Aria,” while soprano Angela Meade sings the Act II aria "Al dolce guidami" from Anna Bolena.

Your new webpage is very beautiful. Unfortunately, it's as mute as Outer Space when I hit the "PLAY" button. In fairness, I do get a stream under "Other Formats," then "Windows" which brings up the WMP. It is odd that of WGBH, WDPR, WGUC, WUOL, WFMT, WRKF, WRR, KUSC, KDB, and KDFC, only your signal fails without the WMP.

really a very interesting broadcast (for some reason the final 4 minutes would not play). lewin an excellent interviewer (charming&knowledgeable) - would love to see her do more of these. meade new to me - such a beautiful, expressive voice and such a meteoric rise to diva status. have long felt pisaroni a great performer - first time for me seeing him interviewed (he just exudes charm doesn't he?). always great to hear from netrebko, voight....& the gelbmeister.bravi to all involved in webcast!

An hour, unexpected, of song,
New artists to move it along.
Netrebko & Voigt,
Two divas adroit,
And so pleasant to be among.

I'd like to hear Mr. Gelb talk about why he's felt it necessary to replace so many beloved productions over the last couple years with some very questionable stagings. Is this paying off financially for the Met? Are they seeing younger audiences?

Please, no more softballs Naomi...
