Today’s program opens with a Rondo, fitting for both Beethoven Awareness Month and the current economic climate. Performed by pianist Claire Huangci, Rage Over a Lost Penny is a tongue-in-cheek, uptempo whirlwind, a peek at Beethoven’s playful side.

Following Huangci’s rendition of Beethoven, we hear from several members of Face the Music, “the only student ensemble in New York City dedicated to performing music by living classical composers,” according to its website. Performing under the direction of fearless leader Jenny Undercofler, the selections heard today represent the diversity and range of the performers and composers alike.
