Gloria Cheng meets the Calder Quartet

Each Thursday at 7 pm this winter, stream Q2 Music for weekly Webcasts of new-music shows as recorded live at premiere venues around New York City. This week: pianist Gloria Cheng and the Calder Quartet.

The Los Angeles-based Calder Quartet has forged an adventurous path, performing with indie rockers and experimental classical musicians. The group joins a fellow Californian, the experimental pianist Gloria Cheng for a set of pieces by Kaija Saariaho, Pierre Boulez, Olivier Messiaen and more. The show was recorded live on January 5, 2011 at Greenwich Village's (Le) Poisson Rouge by Q2 Music.
