Poland's Next Wave

Composer Jakub Ciupinski Shares Favorite Voices of Contemporary Polish Music

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Join Polish composer and electronic musician Jakub Ciupinski on Tuesday, January 17 at 7 pm for the second of two curated sets of Polish contemporary music. While the first episode focused on the "holy trinity" of 20th Century Polish Music, Tuesday's show explores Polish new-music of the last few decades, including music by Tomasz Sikorski, Paweł Szymański, and Ciupinski himself.

Ciupinski offers insights and introductions during an exciting set of contemporary Polish music that includes acoustic instruments emulating electronic effects, Poland's modern answer to American Minimalism, and more. If you missed his first show, exploring the work of Kryzsztof Penderecki, Witold Lutoslawski, and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki, stream it on-demand now or tune in Thursday at 10 am for an encore presentation.

Jakub Ciupinski's shows air Monday, January 16 and Tuesday, January 17 at 7 pm with encore presentations Thursday, January 19 and Friday, January 20 at 10 am.

Bravo to Jakub for these super surveys of Polish work, thoroughly intriguing. Thanks, Q2 Music -- how else could we know the Muzyka Nowa we've been missing?
