On Sunday, Feb. 12 WQXR presented a broadcast and webcast from the Jerome L. Green Performance Space featuring singer-songwriter and composer Rufus Wainwright.

Hosted by WQXR’s Terrance McKnight, Wainwright performed several songs at the piano, spoke about his lifelong love of classical music, and discussed the music from his opera Prima Donna, his “love song to opera” (London Times), which will receive its New York premiere by New York City Opera at BAM on February 19.

The evening will also featured performances by Prima Donna cast members Melody Moore, Kathryn Guthrie Demos, Taylor Stayton and Randal Turner.

there is no mistaking pure talent--when he sings alone with a piano, live and unaffected, there is genius there. thank you for airing this and opening ears to Rufus in a different light.

What have I been listening to?

Very poor so-called music.

Sounds like 1970s try-outs.

Mmmmm.
