There will be no live chat this week. We’ll see you back in the chat room next Friday!

There's a new year and already a score of new albums about which I'm so darn excited. We came into 2012 hot on the heels of Ben Frost's and Daníel Bjarnason's Tarkovsky-inspired Solaris and have already plunged headfirst into a deluge of Philip Glass recordings to celebrate the composer's 75th birthday. Muscovite musicmaker Vladimir Martynov is getting some much-deserved attention thanks to the Kronos Quartet, a new concerto for piano and birdsong offers a 21st Century Messiaen update, and much, much more.

So in lieu of focusing on a current musical event this week, we're looking at current releases. We'll hear some selections from Solaris and a highlight of our latest Album of the Week, plus some other surprises along the way. In the meantime, tell us: What are you listening to right now?
