This week From the Top comes to you from the E.G. Conference at the Golden State Theater in Monterey, Calif., where and an incredible 9-year-old pianist plays Chopin, a 16-year-old double bassist plays a piece written for Picasso's 90th birthday and ukulele virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro performs some of his own compositions accompanied by our young musicians.

Program details:

Pianist Ray Ushikubo, 9, from Riverside, Calif., performs Grand Valse Brillant, Op.18 by Frédéric Chopin.

Violinist Charles Yang, 22 from, from New York City, N.Y., performs the Chaconne in G minor by Tomaso Vitali.

Ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro and guitarist Roberto Granados, 12, from Hayward, Calif., perform “Pianoforte” by Shimabukuro.

Double bassist Emily Brown, 16, from Myersville, Md., performs “War and Peace” by François Rabbath.

Ukulele player Jake Shimabukuro, violinist Charles Yang, guitarist Roberto Granados, and double bassist Emily Brown perform “Trapped” by Shimabukuro, arr. Lee Blaske.
