On Tuesday, July 10 at 3 pm, Q2 Music presents an audio Webcast of "Philharmonic 360" — the New York Philharmonic's ground-breaking, sold-out concerts at the Park Avenue Armory.

Part interactive installation, part new-music happening, "Philharmonic 360" features music that exploits the scope and modular spaces of the Armory's 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall. Included on the program are Pierre Boulez’s Rituel in Memoriam Bruno Maderna which has eight orchestral subdivisions; the Finale of Act I from Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni which surrounds the audience with three chamber orchestras; and Charles Ives’s The Unanswered Question which subdivides the strings, winds and solo trumpet parts. 

The centerpiece of the program however is Karlheinz Stockhausen's Gruppen, a legendary, unrestrained and immersive 1957 work for three separate orchestras arranged around the audience and led by three separate conductors, in this case Alan Gilbert, Magnus Lindberg and Matthias Pintscher. 

"Philharmonic 360" premieres on Q2 Music on Tuesday, July 10 at 3 pm, with repeats Wednesday, July 11 at 7 pm, and Saturday, July 14 at 10 am.
