This week, From the Top comes to you from Dalton Recital Hall at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, where you'll hear a percussion duo play music by Avner Dorman and a 15-year-old violinist play Wieniawski. You'll also meet a talented tubist who feels his instrument chose him and a cellist who has worn the color yellow every day of his life.

Program details:

Pianist Marissa Uchimura, 17, from Kalamazoo, performs Sonata No.3 in A minor, Op.28, by Sergei Prokofiev.

Tubist Ben Darneille, 17, from Rochester, Ill., performs II. Hornpipe and IV. Bourrée from Suite for Tuba by Gordon Jacob.

Cellist Johannes Gray, 14, from Wilmette, Ill., performs "Capriccio" by Lukas Foss.

Percussion Scholarship Group Duo (percussionists Eric Goldberg, 16 and Shuya Gong, 17) from Chicago, performs "Udacrep Akubrad" by Avner Dorman. (Watch the video.)

Violinist Jackie Tso, 15, from Loveland, Ohio, performs the Polonaise Brillante No.1 in D major, Op.4.
