Beautifully done balcony scene. Grigolo did a fine job as Romeo. What gorgeous music. Bravo to Placido.
Thanks for the poem, Mr. Eisenberg.
Listening with rapt attention to the wedding ceremony, one of the most beautiful in opera. I must be getting soft.

I'm listening now...what a lovely performance - beautiful singing of some of the most glorious and delicious melodies in all of opera.

I do, you know, admire Guonod,
From whom lovely melodies grow,
And the Leads here are great,
May applause ne'er abate,
Well conducted by a fine Maestro!

The opening and closing music of the balcony scene is gorgeous. Romeo closes the aria with the phrase "And may the breeze bring you a kiss." I think that is what the translation is. Also the trio from the wedding is truly lovely. See, I am not just a nasty old woman. Occasionally I can be quite the romantic. So there.

This is a beautiful opera. Glad to see that Chernov is still alive and singing. And Grigolo is a really adorable tenorino. Saw him about two months ago in a telecast from Italian tv from the theatre in Verona. Ugh. He shared the show with Justin Bieber. Both of them are so CUTE.
