Painting Music

Sunday, September 02, 2012

Wonderfully colorful music has been composed to celebrate the dramatic, artistically heroic lives of painters in films such as "Lust for Life," with Kirk Douglas as Vincent Van Gogh and "Pollock," with Ed Harris as Jackson Pollock.

On this encore edition of Movies on the Radio, host David Garland offers scores by Miklos Rozsa and by Jeff Beal from those movies, and also music by Elliot Goldenthal from "Frida," Alex North from "The Agony and the Ecstasy," and Simon Fisher-Turner from "Caravaggio."

Miklos Rozsa - Lust for Life - suite - Film Score Monthly

Elliot Goldenthal - Frida - The Floating Bed, Portrait Of Lupe -Deutsche Grammaphon

Jeff Beal - Pollack - suite - Unitone

Alex North - The Agony and the Ecstasy - suite - Varese Sarabande

Simon Fisher Turner - Caravaggio - suite - Demon Soundtracks
