This week's performance is Gioachino Rossini's Matilde di Shabran from Rossini Opera Festival, Pesaro featuring the renowned Rossini tenor Juan Diego Florez. 

Rossini wrote so many great operas, that there are plenty of them we almost never hear. One place you can hear these rarities is the annual Rossini Festival, in Pesaro, the composer's hometown. This production headlined the festival's 2012 season, and features the Bologna Municipal Theatre Orchestra and Chorus with Michele Mariotti, conductor.
