Pop-Up Concert: Matt Haimovitz Performs Bach's Cello Suite No. 6 on The High Line

As the summer of 2012 drew to a close, WQXR hit the outdoors for one last summer concert performance. Unlike the large-scale summer concert broadcasts from Central Park or from the far away scenic bliss of Switzerland, this concert took place a few blocks north of the WQXR studios above the streets and city din of Chelsea.

The prominent cellist Matt Haimovitz joined us to create this video of his spontaneous pop-up concert for visitors to the High Line. Haimovitz is no stranger to performing in non-standard and unusual venues. Taking a page from his 2002 North American tour of J.S. Bach’s cello suites, presented in night clubs and restaurants, Haimovitz here performs Bach’s Cello Suite No. 6. -- Mike Rinzel
