McGuire is chair of the Music and Medicine Initiative at Juilliard and leads workshops on using music for post-traumatic stress disorder at Weill Cornell Medical College.
This week he visited the Young Artists studio to perform a solo Bach suite. YAS alum and pianist Carlos Avila joined McGuire for improvisations on the Tunisian tune Sumra Ya Sumra, and excerpts from Stravinsky’s Suite Italienne (after Pulcinella).
