Studio Session with the Zodiac Trio

The Young Artists Showcase originally introduced the Zodiac Trio in 2006, when the group's members were still students at the Manhattan School of Music. Since then, the three friends have studied and worked in Paris. Currently they are based in Paris and New York, and tour Europe and the U.S. In fact, when the trio came to the Young Artists studio this past week, they arrived straight from the airport following concerts in Oklahoma.

They brought a diverse program, including a special request from host Bob Sherman. Paul Schoenfield’s delightful Eastern European Freylakh begins the set, then Sherman's favorite Suite for Violin, Clarinet and Piano by Darius Milhaud. Clarinetist Kliment Krylovskiy and violinist Vanessa Mollard showed off their tango skills with "Summer" from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla. The Zodiacs rounded out the evening by performing Aram Khachaturian’s only chamber piece, Trio for clarinet, violin and piano in G minor.
