The original "Star Trek" television series ran for just three seasons (1966-1969), but it made an indelible impact on viewers, fans and American culture. Along with the stories, characters, and visuals of the series, the music composed for the show contributed to the power and magic of "Star Trek."

La-La Land, a west coast record company, has just released a 15-CD box set of every note of music composed for the original "Star Trek." This compendium was a labor of love for its producers, and one of them, Jeff Bond, joins David Garland to present selections from this treasure trove of dynamic, dramatic, evocative music composed by some of the most imaginative composers working in television at that time. They include Alexander Courage, George Duning, Gerald Fried, Fred Steiner, Jerry Fielding and Sol Kaplan.

Nothing new to add- but thanks, David, for giving attention to this set.
Love your show every week- but it's nice that you gave this "TV stuff" some attention.
Can't believe how good the sound quality is!
I'll be picking up this set as a Holiday gift to myself.
Cheers!

This Star Trek set is possibly the single most extensive and exciting soundtrack release ever! The large box sets by Miklos Rozsa and Bernard Herrmann are awesome, but this set is even better, with over 17 hours of really fun and enjoyable listening. The music is just the right scale for listening for hours. In fact, the best thing about great soundtrack music is that you can listen to your favorite shows many more times than you would probably want to watch them.

Thanks once again David, for bringing us another great program in this series. It's wonderful to hear this music in high fidelity, rather than the 6-inch (or whatever size) TV speaker I used to hear it through when I watched the show!
