The ensemble Alla francesa explores the music and poetry of Medieval France on this concert from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Together for almost 20 years, Alla francesa is an ensemble that explores all types of music from the Middle Ages, but on this program,  they showcased mostly one composer: Thibaut de Champagne. Thibaut was a 13th-century composer, poet, and king. He was one of France’s greatest song writers and about 60 of his compositions still exist today.

This concert was recorded last week at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Medieval Sculpture Hall.

Program Details:

Alla Francesa, which is the ensemble in residence at the Musée National du Moyen Âge in Paris (Musée de Cluny) calls this program “Thibaut de Champagne and the Manuscript of the King."
