The latest in a series of insightful recordings from the Louth Contemporary Music Society, "In Search of the Miraculous" contains a wide variety of music touching on the theme of spirituality. Highlights include the Hilliard Ensemble singing richly dissonant, chant-inspired works by Vache Sharafyan and the EQ Ensemble playing Arabian-infused compositions by Rabih Abou Khalil and John Surrman.

A new release on Hyperion features the State Choir Latvija and conductor Maris Sirmais performing the gorgeous liturgical choral music of Gabriel Jackson. The works, all of them a cappella except for Ave regina caelorum, in which the choir is accompanied by electric guitarist Kaspars Zemitis, display Jackson’s unique compositional voice, fueled by a deep understanding and love of medieval compositional craft.

Cellist Alban Gerhardt is featured on a 2 CD set of Benjamin Britten's works for cello soloist. Joined by the BBC Scottish Symohony, conductor Andrew Manz and pianist Steven Osborne, Gerhardt gives captivating performances of the Cello Symphony, Sonata and solo Suites, almost all of which were written for the great Mstislav Rostropovich.
