A new release on Hyperion features the State Choir Latvija and conductor Maris Sirmais performing the gorgeous liturgical choral music of Gabriel Jackson. The works, all of them a cappella except for Ave regina caelorum, in which the choir is accompanied by electric guitarist Kaspars Zemitis, display Jackson’s unique compositional voice, fueled by a deep understanding and love of medieval compositional craft.
