A new release from Innova called "Thrum" features four new works commissioned and performed by The Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. Composers Daniel Bernard Roumain, David Evan Thomas, Van Stiefel, and Gao Hong each explore different facets of the guitar quartet sound, making for a diverse and intriguing album.

Canadian composer and guitarist Tim Brady recently recorded his dramatic Third Symphony for choir, eleven instruments and electric guitar soloist. Featuring the Bradyworks ensemble and Vivavoce choir, conducted by Peter Schubert, the work is built around the words of Chilean poet Elias Letelier.

The Lark Quartet plays three chamber works by Jennifer Higdon on our album of the week, "An Exaltation of Larks". With guest appearances from pianists Gary Graffman and Blair McMillen and clarinetist Todd Palmer, this is a collection of impeccably executed performances of music from one of America’s foremost composers. Stream the whole thing all this week.
