On Tuesday, April 30 at 8 pm on New York Now, Q2 Music streams Chinary Ung's 70th Birthday Concert performed by the New York New Music Ensemble—an evening featuring the New York premiere of Aura along with several additional chamber works. Conducted by Ung himself, this concert was recorded April 16 at (Le) Poisson Rouge.

Born in Cambodia and currently on faculty at the University of California, San Diego, Ung has been honored with some of the most prestigious composition awards including a Grawemeyer Award in 1989 for Inner Voices. His philosophical music often incorporates the sounds of Cambodian folk traditions with contemporary classical practices including chance operations, microtonality and elements of visual performance art.

This concert was presented as part of the Season of Cambodia Festival, a cross-disciplinary celebration of Cambodian artists, highlighting authors, photographers, dancers and musicians. The festival is organized by the non-profit Cambodian Living Arts and features over 125 visual and performing artists at various New York City venues throughout April and May.
