'Saving Private Ryan' 'Saving Private Ryan' (© Amblin Entertainment)

The conflict of war has been depicted and examined again and again in movies. From tales of heroism and valor, to stories of ambivalence and fear, the life or death drama of war has been viewed from many angles.

David Garland presents highlights from several war movie scores, including Elmer Bernstein's "The Great Escape," Jerry Goldsmith's "Patton," Bernard Herrmann's "The Naked and the Dead," John Williams' "Saving Private Ryan," Carmine & Francis Coppola's "Apocalypse Now," Vivian Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket," Hans Zimmer's "The Thin Red Line," and the television shows "Combat!" and "The Rat Patrol."

I enjoyed the war memorial show, well done. one question, I'm uncertain about "the rat patrol" theme music...that's not the way I remember it sounding... is there an alternate theme?

I love tonight's show; the music is elegiac and wonderful. The only thing that I miss is that you no longer have a play list! I miss that so much. Just in case you miss the intro, you'd have that to refer to. And use as a reference when you listen again, in case you want to get something or just re-enjoy! Please consider it! And thank you for a wonderful show!!!!!
