After performing in the WQXR studios as part of the flute fest this past April, guitarist Tengyue Zhang told his teacher at Juilliard about the experience. Sharon Isbin, a celebrated American classical guitarist, then told Young Artists host Bob Sherman that three students in her guitar studio were about to give a recital. From those performances at Juilliard’s Paul Hall, here are guitarists TY Zhang, Bokyung Byun and Pierre Ferrya Mansilla performing works by Mexican and South American composers, along with Boccherini and De Falla.
To close out the show, violinist Ray Chen joins last week’s featured prize winner, pianist Andrew Tyson for Henryk Wieniawski’s Variations on an Original Theme and a Sarasate Encore.
