Philadelphia Orchestra Musicians Perform Dvorak on Tour Philadelphia Orchestra Musicians Perform Dvorak on Tour (Youtube.com)

Before the Philadelphia Orchestra wraps up a two-week tour to China this weekend, the musicians used some time en route to Macao to give an impromptu performance of Dvorak's "American" String Quartet No. 12. The performance below starts at about 1:00 in.

The Philadelphians began their tour on May 28 and have been giving master classes with Chinese students, sectional coachings with local orchestras, performances at schools and hospitals and events commemorating the orchestra's first visit to China in 1973. The orchestra has been documenting the trip on their blog; and David Patrick Stearns of WQXR's Operavore has been covering it for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
