This week's program goes back to Ohio to eavesdrop on a concert by the students of Oberlin College, recorded this past March. About two years ago, the Young Artists Showcase introduced the El Sistema alumnus Raphael Jimenez, then recently appointed director of orchestras at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. In this week's show, Maestro Jiminez leads the Oberlin Chamber Orchestra in Ginastera’s Harp Concerto featuring concerto competition winner Rebekah Efthimiou, and the crowd-pleasing Capriccio Espagnol by Rimsky-Korsakov.

To start things off, master's degree candidate David Ellisa — a student of Jimenez — conducts a tone poem by one of Russia’s "Mighty Handful," Anatol Liadov.

Program details:

Anatol Liadov: The Enchanted Lake
— Oberlin Chamber Orchestra; David Ellis, conductor.

Alberto Ginastera: Harp Concerto
— Oberlin Chamber Orchestra; Rebekah Efthimiou, harp; Raphael Jimenez, conductor.

Rimsky-Korsakov: Capriccio Espagnol

Recorded at Finney Chapel in March 2013.
