On June 14, violinist Jennifer Koh and Ensemble LPR presented an eclectic program of music by John Zorn, Charles Wuorinen and Ludwig van Beethoven. Part of Le Poisson Rouge's five year anniversary, the performance demonstrated not only the venue's democratic approach to "new" and "old" music, but also the musicians' breadth of influences and technique.

Jennifer Koh's extensive resume includes performances with the New York Philharmonic, the London Philharmonia Orchestra and Chicago Symphony. Koh has worked extensively in both classical and new music: she's the first female to perform the solo violin part in the newest production of Philip Glass's and Robert Wilson's Einstein on the Beach and in 2012, released Bach and Beyond, a solo violin recording pairing Bach partita's works by Missy Mazzoli' and Kaija Saariaho.

Led by conductor Tito Muñoz, Ensemble LPR embodies the spirit of the venue for which it's named, performing works by Elliott Carter, Gavin Bryars, Beethoven and Arthur Russell.

John Zorn: Passagen for Solo Violin (2011)

Charles Wuorinen: Spin 5 for Violin and 18 Players (2006)
