Project 440: Drumroll Please!

Q2 Presents a Three-Hour Mini-Marathon for the 12 Remaining Project 440 Composers

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

On Thursday, October 14 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., EST, Q2 offers three hours of continuous programming from the remaining finalists from Orpheus Chamber Orchestra's ambitious Project 440 commissioning initiative. Q2's own Nadia Sirota will announce the four winners during her conversation with Orpheus Artistic Director Jonathan Spitz at intermission of WQXR's Thursday night live broadcast from Carnegie Hall.

Project 440 has been an extensive commissioning initiative spanning several months and multiple rounds of selections judged by an impressive list of leading music industry experts. The most innovative twist on the standard commisioning process has been the aggregation on WQXR's dedicated Project 440 series of hundreds of comments from New Music fans and friends who have responded to samples of the emerging composers' work and their unique mission statements.

As we build steam for the announcement of the 4 winners of Orpheus commissions, Q2 wants to offer one last moment to immerse yourself in the distinct musical worlds of the remaining up-and-coming young composers.

The 12 remaining finalists are: Timothy Andres, Tyondai Braxton, Yu-Hui Chang, Eric Guinivan, Alexander Lunsqui, Dylan Mattingly, Alex Mincek, Clint Needham, Andrew Norman, Paola Prestini, Sean Shepherd and Cynthia Wong.
