This week, host Bob Sherman plays some summer encores from Young Artists Showcase alumni, including soprano Yulia van Doren, pianists Ilya Poletayev and Carlos Avila, and cellist James Kim.

Sherman was so impressed by the recent playing of several young musicians that he asked them for more in-concert recordings to bring to the Young Artists Showcase. Along with Norwegian compsoer Edvard Grieg's rarely heard Haugtussa song cycle, we'll hear new live recordings from cellist James Kim and pianist Carlos Avila, who have each appeared on the Showcase several times in recent years.

Program Details:
Luigi Boccherini: "L'Emperatrice" Sonata
— James Kim, cello; Carlos Avila, piano.
Sergei Rachmaninoff: Etude Tableau in C Minor
— Carlos Avila, piano.
Edvard Grieg: Haugtussa Songs

Judy Hoffman from Bayside

I am listening to a beautiful soprano singing music that I have heard before,
but played by an orchestra. I never heard it sung. What is it? It is 9:25 P.M. Thanks
