Blockbuster season has begun, with the big studios unleashing their effects-laden would-be crowd-pleasers. Swinging into view this weekend is "The Amazing Spider-Man 2." The music for that film is by Hans Zimmer, who already has several super-hero film scores under his utility belt. For this project Zimmer has collaborated with musicians from the rock and pop worlds, and the result is an intriguing blend of influences that even seems to include Mozart and experimental noise.

David Garland presents highlights from "The Amazing Spider-Man 2," plus music from other recent big films such as "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," "Noah," and "Transcendence," as well as creative music smaller films like "The Unknown Known," and "Under the Skin."
