WQXR

Soprano Angela Meade has been noted for the ease with which she conquers coloratura vocal flourishes and trills. A young 36, Meade first made a name for herself by winning a remarkable number of vocal competitions.

Since then she's appeared at many respected venues, playing the lead in Bellini's Norma, Donizetti's Anna Bolena and Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro among many others.

This Saturday on the Operavore show, Meade talks with guest host Deborah Voigt about her early career. But first, check out Meade's list of top five Bel Canto Operas:

5. Gioachino Rossini's Armida
4. Gaetano Donizetti's Lucrezia Borgia
3.Gaetano Donizetti's Lucia di Lammoor
2. Gaetano Donizetti's Anna Bolena
1. Vincenzo Bellini's Norma
