Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli

This week on Reflections from the Keyboard, host David Dubal concludes his four-part tribute to Arturo Benedetti MIchelangeli, one of the great piano masters of the 20th century. A legendary and mysterious figure, Benedetti kept his performances and his recordings to a minimum, but when he did play, he strove for absolute perfection. He achieved a level of technical proficiency that is unique even among history’s greatest titans of the keyboard.

On this program, we hear him in a Brahms ballade, a Clementi sonata, and the fiendishly difficult “Ondine” from Ravel’s Gaspard de la nuit. Tune in on Thursday at 8pm or Sunday at 10pm to hear the art of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli.
