David Geringas is considered to be a cellist's cellist. He was born in Lithuania in 1946, and for many years studied with the legendary Russian cellist Mstislav Rostropovich. Geringas is known for his range of repertoire — from early Baroque to contemporary works.

In addition to his performing career, he is also a respected teacher and holds master classes throughout Europe. Geringas wears another hat, too, he is a conductor, appearing regularly in Germany, and with orchestras throughout the world.

On this Concert From The Frick Collection, Geringas only shares the stage with his cello and true to Geringas style, he performs a program that mixes old and new.
