On Wednesday, Jan. 18, Daniel Barenboim visited The Greene Space at WQXR with the Berlin Staatskapelle String Quartet for an exclusive evening of conversation and performance on the eve of their historic Bruckner cycle at Carnegie Hall. A video of the sold-out event is available to watch below.

The String Quartet of the Staatskapelle Berlin began taking shape about 10 years ago, when its members first performed together in Barenboim's chamber music cycle. Since then, the four string section leaders of the Staatskapelle Berlin — Wolfram Brandl and Krzysztof Specjal (violin), Yulia Deyneka (viola) and Claudius Popp (cello) — have grown together as a fixed ensemble.

WQXR's Nimet Habachy hosted the evening.

Program playlist:

Schubert: Quartettsatz for strings in C minor
Brahms: Piano Quintet in F minor, second movement
