Decoda

This week on the Young Artists Showcase, host Bob Sherman introduces Decoda, the first affiliate ensemble of Carnegie Hall and founding ensemble of the Skidmore Chamber Music Institute in Saratoga. On tonight’s program, we hear selections of Bach and Barber from Decoda’s Spring concert at DePauw University last year, as well as a preview of music by Stravinsky and Wynton Marsalis to be performed at their concert at Skidmore College on July 18th.

Five years in the making, Decoda was founded by a group of alumni from the joint Academy of Carnegie Hall, Juilliard, and the Weill Music Institute (abbreviated ACJW). The ensemble strives to attract audiences from all backgrounds by hosting interactive concerts and leading musical discussions. Among Decoda’s artists are several Young Artists Showcase alumni, including trumpeter Brandon Ridenour, cellist Claire Bryant, double bassist Kris Saebo, and pianist Michael Mizrahi.
