A great operetta, perfect for the New Year! Levine conducting is a unexpected bonus. A little schmaltz is nice now and then, imho.

The Fledermaus isn't my speed
A surfeit of schmaltz I can't heed,
'Til next week I'll wait
Queasiness will abate
A shot of real music I'll need.

Great opera about possible cheating couples, a drunken jailer, etc.
Nice way to start the New Year. Actually this opera is a welcome change from the usual mischief, murder and mayhem.
Happy New Year
