I just never could learn to warm up to this opera. Sorry Peppino, I do love you but not this one.

Grateful for Calleja's beautiful voice! Wish he sang more roles at the Met!

This production has elicited reviews bemoaning Domingo's current status. He is,regrettably, now the embodiment of a zwischenfach,no longer able to sing in the tenor range, but unable to sing with the baritone timbre. It has been suggested, particularly in light of his poor Don Carlo in "Ernani" that Domingo should retire. No such plans have been announced, and we can anticipate him hanging on through his 50th anniversary at the MET.
