This Thursday at 9 pm, music director Alan Gilbert leads the New York Philharmonic a program of favorite works by Brahms and Beethoven. The orchestra begins with Brahms's Tragic Overture, followed by the composer's Second Piano Concerto with Emanuel Ax as soloist. 

Beethoven's Seventh Symphony, which the composer described as one of his best works, closes the concert.
