The 2013 Young Concert Artists International Audition winners gave a private gala concert two days after receiving their awards. This week the Young Artists Showcase reprises those exclusive, intimate performances.

While the Young Artists Showcase is rounding out its 36th year on the air at WQXR, some organizations have been at it even longer. Young Concert Artists has nurtured budding talents of classical music since 1961. Founded and still directed by Susan Wadsworth, YCA holds international auditions each year to seek out new and burgeoning careers to bolster.

This week's program begins with a lilting sonata by Poulenc performed beautifully by French clarinetist Raphaël Sévère. Then some solo Bach from Chinese pianist Yunqing Zhou, who helped open last year's Young Artists Showcase season this past October as winner of Juilliard’s Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. The final winner of the evening is American violinist Stephen Waarts, who gave a thrilling reading of Ravel’s Violin Sonata No. 2.

Program Details:
Francis Poulenc: Sonata for Clarinet and Piano
— Raphaël Sévère, clarinet; Evan Solomon, piano.
J.S. Bach: English Suite No. 4 in F Major
— Yunqing Zhou, piano.
Maurice Ravel: Sonata No. 2 for Violin and Piano
— Stephen Waarts, violin; Jungeun Kim, piano.
