Godzilla vs. Gigan Godzilla vs. Gigan (movie poster)

The movie monster Godzilla starred in his first film in 1954, and his career is still going strong. Miniature sets, big rubber suits and now modern digital effects have helped convey the look of Godzilla, but music has always been very important in convincing us of Godzilla's majesty and power.

From Akira Ifukube's jagged and soaring music for the original movie to Alexandre Desplat's edgy score for the latest film, Godzilla's music has ranged from dark to light to dark again, with various shades and approaches between. David Garland presents a survey of imaginative film scores for Godzilla.

WHY isnt WQXR archiving these online any more for at least a few weeks afterward? The stream on my end was bumpy to say the least. Don't make me pull my Zenith Globemaster out.

Greta show and fun to hear Ifukube, Sato, The Peanuts and the new guy's tracks.
