This week's highlights show centers around "The Big Story," featuring not only superb musical performances by young people, but stories from each of these kids that are unusually compelling. You'll hear about a French horn player who has overcome the tragedy of teenage gang warfare to thrive in classical music, a 14-year-old pianist with an amazing tale of American generosity and more.

Pianist and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Dasha Bukhartseva, 14, from Odessa, Ukraine, performs "Autumn Leaves" by Oleg Polevoy and "Toccata" by Vitaly Filipenko.

French horn player and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Eliodoro Vallecillo, 16, from Santa Cruz, Calif., performs Morceau de concert by Camille Saint-Saƫns.

Harpist and and Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Sage Po, 15, from Camptonville, Calif., performs III. Sarabande and IV. Courante from Classical Suite for Harp Alone by Lynne Wainwright Palmer.

Guitarist Kimani Griffin, 17, from Winston-Salem, N.C., performs Aquarelle Suite, Mvt. II by Segei Assad.

Trio Vita (violinist Ryan Murphy, 15; cellist Stanley Moore, 16; and pianist Brian Chang, 17) from Chicago, performs Trio for Violin, Cello and Piano in G, Op. 15, Finale: Presto by Bedrich Smetana.

Cellist David Requiro, 17, from Natick, Mass., performs Requiebros by Gaspar Cassado.
