Hot Breath

Lucky, blessed, fortunate – whatever you call it, the fact that each of us is breathing at this moment is a gift. This week’s program samples music that speaks to the gift of life.

Host Terrance McKnight weaves into a mix a conversation that he had with the actress and activist Ruby Dee, who brings us music from the Renaissance to a contemporary worship service.

As next month marks the 75th anniversary of contralto Marian Anderson’s historic performance on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, we hear her singing songs by Franz Schubert. Plus, there’s music for saxophone by William Grant Still, pianist Gabriela Montero reflects on music by Bach and much more.

What was the Brahms and who was playing it in the Hot Breath segment? So beautiful! Opus 122?

I've always appreciated that WQXR publishes a playlist of the pieces it plays on air. Where can I find the same for these late evening programs?
