Impromptu String Quartet

This week on the Young Artists Showcase, we hear performances of Mozart and Brahms by the Impromptu String Quartet, the grand prize winner of Lyric Chamber Music Society’s fourth annual music competition. Host Bob Sherman also honors the late Charlotte White, founder of Salon de Virtuosi, with music by Salon grant recipients.

As its name suggests, the Impromptu String Quartet had an unplanned start when childhood friends violinist Katherine Baloff and cellist Georgiy Khokhlov reunited at the Lynn Conservatory of Music. Rounding out the ensemble is violinist David Brill and violist Camille Ripple. On this program, they perform movements from string quartets by Mozart and Brahms. The ensemble will make its New York debut at the Kosciuszko Foundation on Tuesday, May 2, featuring these quartets in their entirety.
