Donizetti's classic opera of the power — or lack there of — of a supposed love potion is brought to the stage with tenor Roberto Alagna as the lovesick Nemorino. Aleksandra Kurzak takes on the role of his interest, and Ambrogio Maestri is Dr. Dulcamara, the peddler of a supposedly wondrous elixir that promises to unite the couple. Lisa Simone hosts the broadcast from Paris's Bastille Opera.
