The Brooklyn Youth Chorus Silent Voices is a multimedia series that gives voice to those who have been silenced or marginalized due to religious, social or racial circumstance. The year-long program includes commissions from composers from diverse backgrounds, and culminates in performances at the Brooklyn Academy of Music on May 12-13, 2017.

On Nov. 20, 2016, the chorus presented the first of two shows leading up to the Brooklyn Academy of Music presentation at Brooklyn's National Sawdust. The evening featured music of Pulitzer Prize-winner Caroline Shaw, opera singer and composer Alicia Hall Moran, Ellis Ludwig-Leone (of the chamber-pop band San Fermin), Ellen Reid, Jeff Beal (known for his score to the Netflix series House of Cards) and Nico Muhly.

Silent Voices is presented in conjunction with the Chorus' 2016-17 artist residency at WQXR.
