NJSO Edward T. Cone Composition Institute Director Steven Mackey with the four featured Institute Composers and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO Edward T. Cone Composition Institute)

On July 16, conductor David Robertson and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra (NJSO) presented the works of four emerging composers as part of the 2016 NJSO Edward T. Cone Composition Institute. The evening also featured Turn the Key piece by Institute director Steven Mackey.

The performance was the culmination of six days of intensive workshops and masterclasses with Mackey, Robertson and NJSO musicians. The institute also features sessions with music publishers and classical-music journalists, including Q2 Music, which recorded interviews with the four composers, featured in the audio at the top of this page.

The Institute is presented in collaboration with the Princeton University Department of Music and funded in part by the Edward T. Cone Foundation and Princeton University. Additional information can be found on the NJSO website. Full program notes are also available here.
