Tune in Wednesday at 9 pm as the Young Artists Showcase introduces Italian pianist Luca Buratto, prize laureate of the 2015 Honens Piano Competition. The Honens Competition grants its winner a $100,000 (CAD) award as well as access to artistic and career development resources. In choosing its winner, Honens searches for “the complete pianist” — an artist who combines virtuosity, thoughtful interpretation and collaboration.

This week, the Showcase features selections from Buratto’s solo recital, including works by Ligeti, Debussy and Prokofiev. He will be in residence at the Marlboro Music Festival this summer.

This program also includes soprano Halley Gilbert’s performance of Canteloube’s Songs of the Auvergne. She is accompanied by her father, David Gilbert, who leads the Greenwich Symphony in the orchestral settings of these French folk songs.
